At Other You Media, our mission has always been to unite local musicians in San Antonio for a meaningful cause. Today, we find ourselves facing a moment that calls for solidarity beyond our local boundaries. It is important for us that our community knows that Other You Media is against the genocide of the Palestinian people.
Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Mayan precept of In Lak'ech Ala K'in, which translates to "you are my other self" or "I am another yourself." This ancient wisdom speaks to the interconnectedness of all beings, a sentiment that guides our mission to foster community through music.
In light of the immoral and heinous events unfolding in Palestine at the hands of the US-backed Israel, we find ourselves reflecting on the profound meaning of In Lak'ech Ala K'in and how it resonates with the struggles faced by our global community. The shared humanity that this philosophy emphasizes calls us to stand in solidarity with those experiencing profound challenges and injustices, regardless of geographical boundaries.
In times like these, it becomes evident that certain issues demand our immediate attention and concerted efforts. So, out of respect for the gravity of this horrific situation, we have decided to temporarily halt production on our current projects, including the San Antonio Song Of The Week. While showcasing the local talent that makes our city great is a mission that is close to our hearts, it is inconsequential when compared to the genocide of the people of Palestine.
